plaster, screws, flowers, roots

This project portrays the negative effect of humanity’s impact on nature. As the flowers start to die, it represents how we are destroying the very organisms that give us clean air.  By polluting the environment, we aren’t just killing nature, but we are also damaging the Earth for future generations. Biodiversity is important for species to survive, therefore human disruption in natural habitats can lead to more endangered species and extinction.

The hands represent the effect humans have on nature, which is symbolized by the flowers. The decaying of the flowers is an important aspect of this project because it shows the negative consequences of human disruption. The stems of the flowers are connected to the roots that are shaped into human lungs. The flowers and roots are alive at the beginning of the project, and as they die, they reveal how human impact in nature affects human life too.
